Whom can I ask?

For any questions you cannot find an answer to in the FAQ section or on the website of the Summer School regarding course contents, scholarship information, registration deadlines, accommodation, tuition fees, the social program, etc. please write contact us.

What is covered by the tuition fee?

The tuition fee covers 3 dinners (Welcome Dinner, dinner in Miltenberg and farewell dinner), local transportation ticket in Aschaffenburg (for company visits only), transportation costs for the excursions to Frankfurt and Miltenberg, social program, lunch for 8 days, accommodation in Munich (4-bed-room).
Not included are: accommodation in Aschaffenburg, travel costs and subsistence expenses, evening and weekend activities.

How much money should I calculate for personal expenses and weekend activities?

10 days: 250€ for food + 150€ for additional self-organized activities ≈ 400-450€

What are ECTS points?

ECTS stands for European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System. It is a standard for comparing the study attainment and performance of students of higher education across the European Union and other collaborating European countries. 1 ECTS point is equivalent to 30 hours of work.
The workload and course descriptions are summarized in the module description of the Summer School. Home universities may decide on the equivalent credits they may award to their students based on that description. 1 USC is equivalent to 2 ECTS.

Can I earn points although I do not study at a European University?

Yes, you can. However, you should contact the academic office of your home university to make sure a transfer of credits can be guaranteed.

Can I stay longer than the duration of the Summer School?

Yes, you may stay longer than the duration of the Summer School. However, you need to keep in mind any restrictions concerning the length of your stay in Germany. Please do also take care of your accommodation on your own (please contact us if you need help with that).

Can I arrange for my own accommodation?

Yes, you can arrange for your own accommodation. You also find suggestions in the section accommodation. Please get in touch with us if you have any questions.

I need a visa to enter Germany, can I receive an acceptance letter?

If you need a visa to enter Germany, Hochschule Aschaffenburg can provide you with an acceptance letter which will be sent to you after receipt of your payment.

Do I get my money back if I cancel my application?

Your registration will only be final, when a down payment of 100 EUR has been made to the given account. This down payment serves as guarantee of your participation and is non-refundable.
The remainder of the program fee is due 15 April 2017. After this date, cancellation is not possible free of charge!

 

 

When shall I arrive?

Ideally, you plan your arrival on Sunday morning. Then, you will have enough time to settle at the hotel and to already get to know some of the other participants and a little bit of Aschaffenburg. You have to be in Aschaffenburg latest by Monday, 8 a.m. as official welcome and city tour starts at 9 a.m.

How to arrive from Frankfurt Airport to Aschaffenburg Hauptbahnhof (main train station)?

The train system in Germany is the easiest way of transport for greater distances. It is safe and reasonably priced. Please look up the website of Deutsche Bahn (German railway company) for concrete connections http://www.bahn.de/i/view/USA/en/index.shtml

Will there be a pick-up service?

Yes, some of the local students will pick you up and show you the way.

What can I do on the weekends?

We prepared a diverse social program for the weekend for you and the other participants of the Summer School. Yet, you are free to organize your own trips or activities.
