Welcome-Dinner with the delegation from Kitami

Numerous Japanese visitors on the h-ab campus: The summer German intensive courses in August attracted two Japanese delegations to Aschaffenburg UAS – a delegation from the Hiroshima Shudo University, the partner institution of the Faculty of Business and Law, and another delegation from the future partner university of the Faculty of Engineering, the Kitami Institute of Technology on the northern Japanese peninsula Hokkaido.
Already at the beginning of August, Dr. Ryo Yamao, Associate Professor of German Studies at the Hiroshima Shudo University, accompanied four of her students to Aschaffenburg. Two of these four students from Hiroshima do not only attend the summer German intensive courses, but will spend a whole year at the h-ab as exchange students. They are the first incomers from Japan to be welcomed on the Aschaffenburg campus since the establishment of the partnership in 2015.

Only a week after the group from Hiroshima, a delegation from the Kitami Institute of Technology arrived under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Natalie Konomi, Director International Centre of her institute. Prof. Dr. Konomi has German roots and has become aware of the h-ab via the summer German intensive courses. Like her colleague from Hiroshima before, she is now sitting in on the courses; she is also participating in the framework program and, together with her four students, is thus forming a round picture of the h-ab. The cooperation agreement with the Kitami Institute of Technology is likely to be signed in winter term 2017/18.

The Language Centre is pleased that the summer German intensive courses by Prof. Dr. Renate Link are so popular even in far-away Japan. A detailed report about the third round of these summer German courses with information on further Asian participants and a new social programme will follow after the end of the courses.
